4 OT game highlights youth football openers

A marathon four overtime contest highlighted Medina’s season opening Niagara Orleans Football Association (NOFA) quadrupleheader Saturday at Vets Park.
The Oakfield-Elba Titans outlasted the Medina Broncos 12-6 in the four overtime JV Division game. The Broncos touchdown came on a 15 yard run by Tavarias Griffin which was set up by a long run by Treyden Rhim.
The day’s opening game saw the Medina Ponys down Oakfield-Elba 25-19 on touchdown runs of 60, 60 and 2 yards (following a 65 yard run) by Damareon Shine and a 60 yard TD run by Luke Hungerford. Shine also had a pair of extra point runs.
The Medina Mini lost a tight one to Oakfield-Elba scoring a late touchdown to make it close. Javeon Wills and Ja’Keir both had long touchdown runs.
In the Varsity Division game, the Medina Stallions dropped a 15-6 decision to Newfane which jumped out to a 13-0 lead by scoring on a blocked punt and a fumble recovery.
The Stallions lone score came on a 22 yard touchdown pass from Preston Woodworth to Trevon Shine with seven seconds to go in the first half.
