A winter storm warning is in effect from 9 tonight until 7 p.m. on Monday for Orleans County and much of upstate New York.

Orleans, Niagara, Genesee and northern Erie are forecast to receive 12 to 20 inches of snow. Winds gusting as high as 40 miles per hour will produce significant blowing and drifting snow Monday afternoon and evening, the National Weather Service in Buffalo said.

“Travel will be very difficult or even nearly impossible with deep snow cover on roads and very poor visibility,” the Weather Service said. “The hazardous conditions will impact the morning and evening commute Monday.”
