Trailing 21-14, host Maryvale rallied for a touchdown in both the third and fourth quarters to edge past Albion 28-21 this evening in the semifinals of the Section VI Class B Chuck Funke Memorial Bowl Classic.

Breaking away from a 14-14 half-time deadlock, Albion had grabbed a 21-14 lead on a 1 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Kyle Smith to Kory Reynolds in the third quarter as Trey Hart added the extra point kick.

However, the final 14 points and the victory belonged to the Flyers.

Maryvale though rallied into a 14-14 tie by scoring on a blocked punt with just 22 seconds remaining in the first half.

Smith completed 9 of 16 pass attempts for 108 yards and the 3 touchdowns and also rushed for 80 yards while Mattison rushed 19 times for 100 yards.

Smith also had a big night defensively making 9 tackles as Mattison was in on 8 stops and Mike Laine 6. Downs also had an interception.

The Flyers win leaves both teams at 3-5.
