Flash flood watch issued for Orleans
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Orleans and several other counties from 5 p.m. today through 11 a.m. Thursday.
Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected to track across the region this afternoon through Thursday morning.
“Some of these showers and storms will have the potential to create torrential downpours across areas that saw heavy rainfall earlier today, resulting in an elevated risk for flash flooding,” the National Weather Service in Buffalo said.
The flash flood watch includes the following counties: Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, northern Cayuga, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and Allegany.
