The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a flash flood warning for central Orleans County until 7:15 p.m.

Doppler radar and automated gauges indicate thunderstorms are producing heavy rain across central Orleans and also eastern Niagara. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen from east-central Niagara county to central Orleans county. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly, the Weather Service said at 3:18 p.m.

There will be flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas, the Weather Service said.

Locations that will experience flooding include Medina, Albion, Middleport, Waterport, Kent, Ridgeway, Shelby, Gaines, Lyndonville and Fancher, the Weather Service said.

There are already several reports of flooded basements in Albion and Medina.
