A big scoring surge to end the first half keyed Pembroke to a 48-28 win over host Albion this evening in a non league girls basketball game.

Albion stayed within five, 18-13, early in the second quarter after a run of seven straight points by Madison Hughson on two layups and a three point play.

However, Pembroke answered back with a decisive 14-1 scoring burst to move out to a commanding 32-14 half-time advantage.

Emily Peters and Isabel Breeden both had a pair of baskets and Sydney Johnson a three to highlight that key uprising by the Lady Dragons.

Pembroke increased its advantage to 26, 42-16, at the three-quarter mark as Breeden had six, including a three, in the third period.

Serene Calderon finished with 14, Breeden 13 and Peters 8 to lead the way for Pembroke.

Hughson scored 7, Aly Knaak and Abby Scanlan 6, Sydney Mulka and Aurora Serafin 4 and Honest Little 1 for Albion.

Now at 4-4 overall, Albion next hosts Roy-Hart on Tuesday in a Niagara-Orleans League game.
