A big 40-22 scoring edge over the middle two quarters keyed No. 6 C.G. Finney to a 71-62 upset win over host No. 3 Lyndonville this evening in a Section V Class D1 quarterfinal game.

Trailing 17-14 after one period, Finney outscored Lyndonville 24-16 in the second quarter to rally into a 38-33 lead at the half.

Keeping the momentum, the Falcons then outpointed the Tigers 16-6 in the third period to extend the advantage to 54-39.

However, Lyndonville came battling back down the stretch led by Nick Hinkson who exploded for 17 points including three threes.

The Tigers did cut the deficit to just four, 66-62, after Corey Hydock made a three-point play with 50 seconds to go and then a basket with 24 seconds remaining.

Lyndonville though could get no closer as Finney closed out the win with five free throws in the final seconds.

Hinkson finished with a career high 35 points while Eddie Schildt had 14, Hydock 9 and Eric Neace 4. Schildt also grabbed off 17 rebounds.

Simeon Harris scored 25 to lead Finney as Max Harris and Dylan Ocorr 12 each.

Lyndonville finishes the season at 17-5.
