Final week has Rams seeking to lock up N-O diamond title; Mustangs still in the chase

Down to a two team race, four regular season ending games this coming week will determine the Niagara-Orleans League baseball champion.

Currently, front-running Roy-Hart at 9-1 holds a one game lead over defending champion Medina at 8-2.

Roy-Hart will determine its own fate as the Rams can lock up sole possession of the title by scoring road wins at Akron (6-4) on Tuesday and at Albion (5-5) on Wednesday.

Medina’s road to the title is a bit more challenging. The Mustangs not only need to sweep a home-and-home series from Barker (2-8) but also need to have Roy-Hart lose to either Akron or Albion in order to gain a share of the title. The Mustangs will host the Raiders on Wednesday and then visit Barker on Thursday.

Wilson will host the annual N-O track and field championships on Thursday.

Section V and Section VI softball playoff action will also get underway this week. The Section VI seeding meeting is Tuesday and the Section V meeting on Thursday.

The Section VI lacrosse seeding meeting will be held on Wednesday with the opening round of games slated for Friday.
