Final relay lifts Seahorses past Albion boys

A 1-2 finish in the final relay event earned Medina narrow 47-46 win over host Albion in a Niagara-Orleans League boys swim meet this evening.

The Seahorses 1-2 finish in the 400 Freestyle Relay had the foursome of Aidan Papaj, Timothy Zeiner, Juan Gonzalez and Bryson Ford place first and the quartet of Jackson Reese, Jonathan Dix, Owen Sargent and Nathanael Rutledge take second.

Ford also won both the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Freestyle as Reese also took the 100 Backstroke and Bradley Goyette the 500 Free.

Albion got individual event wins from Matthew Kania (200 Free), Justin Kania (50 Free), Leo Bolton (100 Butterfly) and Logan Kast (100 Breaststroke).

Albion girls down Medina
Gaining a split on the day, Albion won the girls competition with a 50-38 victory over Medina.

Keira Sidari doubled in the 200 Free and !00 Butterfly and Willow Gaines in the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke as Anna Grillo took the 500 Free.

For Medina, Madeline Mark took the 200 Individual Medley, Malloree Rinker the 500 Free and Maya Anderson the 100 Backstroke.

Newfane sweeps Roy-Hart/Barker
Newfane scored a key sweep over Roy-Hart/Barker in the battle for the N-O lead. The Panthers won the boys’ meet 102-67 and the girls’ competition 97-73.

Improving to 7-0, the Newfane boys lock up the N-O title as runner-up Roy-Hart/Barker slips to 5-2.

The girls title race is now deadlocked as Newfane and Roy-Hart/Barker are both 6-1 with one meet remaining. Roy-Hart/Barker visits Medina and Newfane faces Akron in regular season ending make up meets on Friday.

The Newfane boys had a quartet of individual event double winners as Dmitri Young took the 200 Free and 500 Free, Noah Kneeland the 200 Individual Medley and 100 Breaststroke, Matthew Page the 50 Free and 100 Free and Dylan Lamont the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke.

The Newfane girls had Avery Stevenson double in the 200 IM and 100 Free and Kimberly Schmitt in the 50 Free and 100 Breaststroke as Lauren Enderton took the 100 Backstroke.

Ava Achtyl took both the 200 Free and 500 Free and Abigail Glyshaw the 100 Butterfly for Roy-Hart/Barker.
