Fillies compete in Lancaster Tourney

Rebounding from a rough opener on Saturday, the Medina U14 Fillies bounced back on Sunday to defeat Cheektowaga Crush 18-6 in the Lancaster Classic Tournament.

The Fillies scored 14 runs in the first inning and cruised to the victory.

Cora Payne struck out 4 in the circle to lead the way.

Hannah Hamilton had a great catch in right to end the 6th inning.

In the quarter finals, Medina lost to host Lancaster Heat 4-3.

Lacey Kenward started it off in thesecond inning with a solo home run.  Medina added two more runs in the top of the fourth plating Cora Payne and Brandi Guild.

Lancaster tied the game in the bottom of the fourth, and later won the game in the bottom of the seventh with a one out bases loaded single.

Strong defense by Camri King and Brandi Guild kept the game close in the late innings.  Ashlee Howell held Lancaster runners at bay by throwing out two runners trying to steal second.

Medina travels to Lou Gehrig on Tuesday for their next regular season game.
