CHILDS – The Cobblestone Museum will host an outdoor fiddlers’ concert at 3 p.m. today, featuring the talented musicians known as Sawgrass.

Sawgrass is a group of friends who have been playing together informally for many years. During the summer of 2020, they decided to form a band and performed in their first official concert at the Cobblestone Museum’s annual meeting and Vagg house tours last November.

Musicians are Amy Freyer, banjo; Kelly Appleton, fiddle; Andrew Johnson, mandolin; Tom Bailey, guitar; and Russ Steenhoff, bass.

The public is invited to bring their lawn chair and enjoy an afternoon of toe-tapping music.  If the weather doesn’t cooperate, the concert will take place inside the Cobblestone Church.

A free will offering will be accepted to benefit the Cobblestone Society and Museum.

The Cobblestone Museum has several other events planned for the fall, starting with an open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Oct. 2. Admission is free, but donations of cans and bottles would be appreciated.

The day will feature skilled artisans, antiques appraisals, a Weidner’s chicken barbecue and opening of an art exhibit by Tom Zangerle of Medina.

In addition, the Holiday Shoppe will be ready and available for purchases to set the mood for the upcoming holiday season.

Women’s Volunteerism and Quilts of the Civil War will be presented at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 by  Lynne Bassett. The program may be viewed on site or online.

On Oct. 9, lunch with soup and salad will be served at noon in the Vagg house, using vintage dishware.
