Fast start sparks Tigers to key win over Rams

Avenging a narrow 2-1 loss on Monday, Akron used a huge first inning scoring burst to ignite a 14-8 win over Roy-Hart in a key Niagara-Orleans League game on the turf at Newfane this afternoon.

The Tigers took charge at the outset erupting for 9 runs in the decisive first inning as Alex Wik and Dawson Stone both had two-run singles and Jack Julicher and winning pitcher Drew Romesser RBI singles.

Romesser had a total of 3 hits and Julicher 2. On the mound, Romesser allowed 4 hits and struck out 7 over six innings.

Akron led 14-3 heading into the final inning when Roy-Hart scored 5 times as Jake Gould had a leadoff triple, Dawson Draper a two-run single and Rem Albee an RBI single.

The victory pulls Akron into a tie for first place with Medina at 4-1 in the tight four-way title race.
