Fast start sparks Rangers past Purple Eagles
Unable to rebound from a 17 point first quarter deficit, Albion dropped a 61-43 decision to host Spencerport in a non league boys basketball game this afternoon.
The host Rangers jumped out to a 26-9 first quarter lead highlighted by a pair of threes by Jah’Mere Pritchett and three baskets by Hunter Streb. Pritchett finished with 14 and Streb 13.
Albion did battle back to within 8, 28-20, by opening the second period with an 11-2 run but the Purple Eagles could get no closer. Tyler Cody had a three and a two and Kyle Radder a three to lead that rally.
However, the Rangers regained a 13 point, 34-21, half-time lead and upped the advantage to 21, 52-31, at the three-quarter mark.
Radder finished with 14 and Cody 13 for the Purple Eagles as Wesley Olles added 8, Luke Bell 4 and Nate Gibson and Elliott Trapiss 2 each.
Albion is now 11-8 and Spencerort 9-10.
The Purple Eagles will close out the regular season by hosting Newfane in a Niagara-Orleans League make-up game at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
