Fast start sparks Hornets past Purple Eagles

Roaring out to a commanding 21-0 first quarter lead, Oakfield-Alabama went on to defeat host Albion 47-12 in a non league girls basketball game this evening.

Threes by Kelsey Schlagenhauf and Makena Reding along with 9 of 14 free throw shooting highlighted the decisive first quarter for the Hornets which went on to hold leads of 28-4 at the half and 40-7 after three quarters.

Schlagenhauf finished with 11 and Brooke Reding 10 to lead the Hornets as Makena Reding had 8, Caitlin Ryan 6, Alaina Manges 5, Emma Wray 4, Macy Altamirano 2 and Alea Groff 1.

Madison Hughson scored 6, Abby Scanlan 4 and Aurora Serafin and Sydney Mulka 1 for Albion.

Oakfield-Alabama improves to 6-0 and Albion slips to 0-5.
