Fast start sparks Mustangs past Rams; Panthers blank Purple Eagles; Kendall wins

Photos by Cheryl Wertman – Aiden Pitts had a big day at the plate with 4 hits and 6 RBI to help lead Medina to a key Niagara-Orleans League win at Roy-Hart this afternoon.

A quick first inning scoring burst ignited Medina to a 13-2 win over host Roy-Hart in a key Niagara-Orleans League baseball game this afternoon.

The victory keeps Medina in the thick of the N-O title race at 5-2 while Roy-Hart slips to 6-3 and two games off the pace in the loss column.

Akron maintained a hold on first place by blanking Wilson 11-0. The Tigers improve to 6-1 and the Lakemen slip to 3-3 and two games off the pace.

In the other N-O contest, Newfane blanked Albion 2-0 to improve to 3-5. The loss drops Albion to 3-4 and three games off the pace.

Medina jumped out to a 4-0 first inning lead on a two-run triple by Aiden Pitts, an RBI double by Richard Keppler and an RBI single by Preston Woodworth.

Pitts upped the led to 6-0 in the second inning with a two-run single.

The Mustangs then doubled their advantage to 12-0 with a big 6 run third inning on two-run singles by both Pitts and Tyler Kroening along with a pair of bases loaded walks.

Aidan Papaj singled in Medina’s final run in the seventh inning.

Pitts had a total of 4 hits and Keppler 2, both of which were doubles.

Aidan Paul went the distance on the mound for the Mustangs allowing 3 hits and striking out 10.

Thomas Russo had an RBI double in the fifth inning for Roy-Hart’s first run.

Medina next visits Wilson and Roy-Hart hosts Barker on Wednesday.

Roy-Hart’s Dawson Draper dives back to first base just ahead of a tag by Medina’s Ryleigh Culver.

Akron 11, Wilson 0
Andrew Romesser hurled a no hitter with 5 strikeouts to lead Akron past Wilson.

Aiden Romesser, Dawson Stone, Vince Consiglio and Ryan Owen each had 2 hits for the Tigers.

Newfane 2, Albion 0
Aiden Perry pitched a 2 hitter with 5 strikeouts to lead Newfane past Albion 2-0.

Ben Dickinson scored what proved to be the game winning run for the Panthers in the first inning.

Kendall 15, Lyndonville 2
Breaking away from a 2-2 tie, Kendall erupted for 8 runs in the third inning to key a 15-2 Genesee Region League win over Lyndonville.

Louis Conte, who drove in a pair of runs in the third, finished with 3 hits including a double and Jimmie Swift added 2 hits.

Zach Barrett struck out 9 and allowed 4 hits in 3 innings of work on the mound for Kendall which improves to 7-2 in the league and 9-2 overall.
