Fast start sparks Mustangs past Bulldogs

Jumping out to a quick 9-0 lead in the first two innings, Medina went on to down host Barker 23-6 this afternoon as the Mustangs improve to 8-1 and maintain a two-game lead in the Niagara-Orleans League baseball title race.

The Mustangs grabbed a 5-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI triple by Aidan Papaj, an RBI double by Brandon Christiaansen, a sacrifice fly by Ryleigh Culver, a fielders choice play and a wild pitch. The uprising was also aided by a triple by Brody Fry and a double by Carter Woodworth.

Preston Woodworth, Carter Woodworth and Richard Keppler then all had RBI singles in the second inning as a sacrifice fly by Culver plated another run.

The Mustangs later capped off the win with a marathon 12 run fifth inning which included a two-run single and an RBI single by Papaj, a two-run triple by Preston Woodworth and a two-run single by Lukas Grimes,

Papaj finished with 4 hits, Carter Woodworth 3 and Fry and Preston Woodworth 2 each.

Logan Flint and Daniel Barry both had a pair of hits for the Bulldogs which slip to 0-9.

Newfane 11, Akron 7
A grand slam home run by Brayden Seitz, a solo homer by Cameron Perry and a triple by Jon Beiter highlighted the offense for Newfane in the 11-7 N-O win over Akron.

Dawson Stone had a home run and a triple and Vince Consiglio a double for Akron.

Newfane is now 7-4 and Akron 3-6 in N-O action.
