Fast start sparks Medina girls past Albion

Jumping out to a 10 point first quarter lead, Medina went on to down visiting Albion 59-38 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game this evening.

Medina grabbed a 14-4 first quarter lead as Alexa Demmer scored 9.

The Mustangs went on to hold leads of 28-21 at the half and 41-31 at the three-quarter mark.

Demmer finished with a game high 25 as Honesty Hill added 15 Ariel Smith 7 and Sam Heschke, Tatianna Maxon and Roswyn Oakes 4 each.

Leah Pawlak led Albion with 14 as Kenzi Snook added 8. Melia Prince 6. Paige Newton 4 and Mia Standish. Aubrey Gannon and Julia Knight 2 each.

Newfane 45, Roy-Hart 40
Anna Chunco scored 15, including 4 key free throws in the final period, and Kameryn Boyer 12 to lead Newfane to a narrow 45-40 win over Roy-Hart.

Adella Dukes scored 12, Kaitlin Mettler 9, Millie Owens 7 and Courtney Aquilina 6 for Roy-Hart.

Newfane led 29-18 at the half but Roy-hart rallied back to within one, 32-31, heading into the final quarter.

In the other N-O contest Wilson downed Barker 41-10.
