Fast start sparks Lady Rams past Mustangs

Roaring out to an 18-0 lead at the outset, Roy-Hart went on to defeat visiting Medina 61-33 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game this evening.

Up 18-4 at the end of the opening period, the Lady Rams went on to hold leads of 35-10 at the half and 47-21 at the three-quarter mar.

Kaitlin Mettler scored 14, Claire Halstead 11 and Kara Choate 10 to lead Roy-Hart.

Rylee VanNostrand scored 13 and Stella Poler 10 to pace Medina.

Roy-Hart is now 1-2 and Medina 0-3 in N-O action.

Akron 41, Albion 39
Trailing 31-25 after three quarters, Akron rallied with a big 16-8 fourth period scoring surge to edge host Albion 41-39 in an N-O contest.

Gihna LaFromboise scored 14 to lead Akron.

Abby Scanlan took game high honors with 17 and Sydney Mulka added 11 for Albion which led 18-15 at the half.

Akron is now 2-1 and Albion 0-3 in league competition.

Newfane 59, Barker 27
Improving to 4-1, Newfane downed Barker (1-3) in an N-O contest.

Jensen McGhee scored 14 and Angelina Ditullo and Allie Szratter both added 9 to lead Newfane.

Kiera Dalton had 8 to lead Barker which slips to 1-3.
