Fast start sparks Elba girls past Lyndonville
Jumping out to a 14-0 lead at the outset, Elba went on to defeat host Lyndonville 62-51 in a Genesee Region League girls basketball game this evening.
Laci Sewar scored 16, Sydney Reilly 13 and Dakota Brinkman 10 to lead the way for Elba which improves to 10-4.
Ella Lewis tallied 17, Karlee Rounds 14 and Lorelei Dillenbeck 11 to pace Lyndonville which is now 9-3.
Brinkman and Adrianna Long both scored a pair of baskets and Sewar and Georgia Luft both hit threes to spark Elba out to a 17-4 first period lead.
The Lady Lancers maintained a 28-17 lead at the half as Reilly had two threes in the second quarter. Rounds tallied 6 and Lewis 5 during that stretch for the Lady Tigers.
Lyndonville did rally back to within five, 33-28, midway through the third period after an 11-2 run but the Lady Tigers could get no closer. Lorelei Dillenbeck hit two threes to highlight that rally.
However, Elba answered with a 14-2 run to close the period and move back out to a 17 point, 47-30, advantage. Sewar and Kennedy Augello both hit two threes to highlight that uprising.
Lyndonville did outpoint Elba 21-15 in the final period, including 8 by Lewis and 6 by Addison Dillenbeck, but the Lady Tigers could get no closer than 8 at 59-51 in the final minute.
Holley 37, Mt. Morris 32
Trailing 27-18, Holley rallied to outscore host Mt. Morris 19-5 in the final period to claim a 37-32 non league win.
Tatum Gagne scored all 13 of her points in the decisive final period for Holley which also got 10 from Sam Bates and 7 from Sara Kingdollar on the evening.
