Fast start sparks Albion girls past Medina

Jumping out to a 15-2 first quarter lead Albion went on to down rival Medina 47-28 in a Niagara-Orleans League girls basketball game this evening.

Madison Hughson scored 11 to spark Albion in the early going and the Purple Eagles went on to lead by margin of 25-14 at the half and 33-23 after three quarters.

The Purple Eagles also finished strong outpointing the Mustangs 14-5 in the final period.

Hughson finished with a game high 24 points as Kenzi Snook added 10, Leah Pawlak 5, Julia Knight 4 and Daci Doward and Paige Newton 2 each.

Honesty Hill led Medina with 7 as Nevaeh Moss, Ariel Smith and Alexa Demmer each had 6 and Iyla Lilleby 3.

Albion improves to 2-3 in N-O action and Medina slips to 0-2.

In the other N-O games, Wilson (5-0) jumped out to a 23-3 first quarter lead and went on to down Barker (0-4) 48-13 and Newfane (3-1) bested Roy-Hart (0-3) 50-32.
