Fast start powers Lady Tigers past Mustangs

A lightning quick scoring burst of two goals in less than a minute and a half sparked front-running Akron to a 4-0 win over Medina in a Niagara-Orleans League field hockey game at Vets Park this evening.

Averi Monkelbaan scored just nine seconds into the game and Mackenzie Tomporowski followed up with another goal just over a minute later to get the Lady Tigers off and rolling.

A second quarter goal by Ava Lombard upped the Lady Tigers lead to 3-0 at the half and Monkelbaan later netted the lone second half goal.

Akron is now 9-0 and Medina 2-5.

Barker 5, Kenmore 0
Barker improved to 7-2 by blanking Kenmore (1-7) 5-0 as Madelina Pavlock scored 3 goals and Jordyn Kinne and Sophia Pavlock each netted 1.

Newfane 1, Wilson 0
Newfane edged rival Wilson 1-0 Monday evening as Nattalie Johnson scored the lone goal off an assist from Roxy Smith.
