Fast start powers Gators to win over Hawks

Building up an early 20-0 lead, Allegany-Limestone went on to down host Holley/Lyndonville 48-22 in a season opening 8 man football game this afternoon.
Long touchdown runs of 44 and 41 yards helped Allegany Limestone grab a 14-0 first quarter lead. The Gators increased the advantage to 28-6 at the half on second quarter TD runs of 25 and 10 yards.
Holley/Lyndonville, which had one drive stopped at the A-L 21 in the first quarter by a lost fumble, scored in the second period on a 10 yard TD run by quarterback Destin Kuyal.
The Hawks other two scores came in the final quarter on TD runs of 17 and 58 yards by Hunter Jewell-Smith. Kuyal added both two-point conversions, the first on a pass reception from Jewell-Smith and the second on a run.
For the Gators, which led 34-6 at the three-quarter mark, quarterback Michael Frederick ran for two touchdowns and passed for another, Kevin Edwards-Hardy rushed for a pair of scores as did Matt Burnett. Edwards-Hardy also had a pass reception TD.
Holley/Lyndonville next visits CG Finney at 1 p.m. next Saturday.
Pembroke 55, Red Jacket 28
Defending champion Pembroke opened with a 55-28 win over Red Jacket Friday night as Tyson Totten led the Dragons with 414 yards rushing and 7 touchdowns.
