Fast start keys softball win for LUMC

Lyndonville United Methodist Church erupted for six runs in both the first and second innings and five more in the third in route to posting a 17-2 win over the Roy-Hart Wildcats Saturday in youth softball action.

Sophia Weber had a home run in each of those innings to lead the offense for LUMC which improves to 4-1-1.

Lily Joe Carpenter, Haley Shaffer and Shelby Boring each added a double and two singles while Lorelei Sanders, Makayla Heideman and Brooklynn Parsons each had two singles.

In the circle, Shaffer opened the game with three strikeouts and had a total of nine strikeouts. Carpenter pitched one inning, faced three batters, and registered three strikeouts.

Medina 12U Fillies

Undefeated Clarence blanked the Medina 12U Fillies 12-0 over the weekend.

Micaela Irway had the only hit for the Fillies which threatened in both the second and fourth innings.

Defensively for the Fillies, Carina Kingsbury had two nice putouts in centerfield, Irway a putout in right, Chloe Stinson two at shortstop and Camri King two at third. Grace Cook and Stinson also combined to throw a runner out at second.

Now at 4-2, Medina next visits Lewiston on Wednesday and hosts Wheatfield on Thursday.
