Fall H.S. sports practice begins Saturday
It’s goodbye summer and hello autumn as fall high school sports practice begins on Saturday.
Football will kickoff the preseason practice schedule on Saturday as Medina will begin prepping to defend the Class C North title the Mustangs have won each of the past three seasons.
At Holley, the Hawks 8 man football squad will now be the combined Holley/Lyndonville squad.
The other local combined football team is Roy-Hart/Barker which last fall was the tri-school Roy-Hart/Barker/Lyndonville squad.
The other fall sports teams including boys and girls soccer, field hockey, volleyball, cross-country and golf will begin practicing on Monday.
Both the Roy-Hart boys and girls soccer teams will begin tuning up to defend the Niagara-Orleans League titles which both Ram squads have won each of the past three years.
Akron will begin practicing to defend their N-O titles in field hockey, volleyball and golf.
The other defending N-O championship teams are Barker in boys cross-country and Newfane in girls cross-country.
In The Genesee Region League, the Holley girls soccer team will be prepping to defend their division title. The Lady Hawks returns virtually their entire team from last fall’s squad which advanced to the sectional finals.
The one local change on the G-R soccer scene is that Lyndonville will be fielding only JV and modified boys teams and not varsity this season due to a lack of numbers in the upper grades.
