Extensive power outages expected with strong winds on Monday

The National Weather Service in Buffalo has issued a high wind warning from 10 a.m. Monday to 2 a.m. Tuesday for Orleans County. The advisory also includes Niagara, Monroe, northern Erie, Genesee and Wyoming counties.

There will be southwest will from 30 to 45 miles per hour with gusts up to 70 mph expected.

“This will be a dangerous situation,’ the Weather Service said. “Very strong winds will result in numerous downed trees and power lines. Extensive power outages and property damage are expected.”

The forecast the next few days includes mostly sunny with a high near 46 today, followed by a high near 59 on Sunday, which is Easter.

On Monday, the high will be near 65 with a 100 percent chance of rain, between a quarter and half of an inch possible. Tuesday will be mostly sunny with a high near 44.
