Peggy Pajak won first place with this oil painting of Buttermilk Falls. It was one of about 100 works of art submitted by 27 artists in GO ART’s annual juried exhibition, “Art of the Rural.”

There was an opening reception for the exhibit on April 20. The art work will be on display until June 3 at GO ART!’s gallery in Batavia, 201 East Main St.  The exhibit features artwork submitted by local artists, all conveying their interpretation of “rural.”

“Art of the Rural has become a popular exhibit with artists and the local community,” said Mary Jo Whitman, GO ART!’s education director. “It is a great opportunity for artists to display their work, as well as for the community to see all of the talent that we have here in our region.”

First place received a cash prize of $200, second place $100 and $50 for third place.
