Postponed two weeks ago by bad weather, the Jeff Evoy Memorial Scholarship baseball doubleheader will be played this Saturday at Medina’s Vets Park.

The doubleheader will have Albion vs. Pembroke at 4 p.m. and Wilson vs. Medina at 7 p.m. There will be ceremonies between games at approximately 6 p.m.

The event raises funds for the scholarship in memory of Evoy who during his educational career as a teacher, coach and administrator served the students and communities in the Albion, Medina and Pembroke school districts. He passed away in 2016 while serving as Medina superintendent.

Wilson downed Medina 11-5 in last year’s inaugural contest. The event is also a special one for Wilson as Lakemen Coach Mark Kurtz was a lifelong friend of Evoy’s.

The event was expanded to a doubleheader this year so that the teams from Albion and Pembroke could also participate.
