Eden tips Medina in Class B1 semifinal
Unable to keep the momentum from a big first inning, No. 4 seed Medina dropped a narrow 6-5 decision to No. 8 Eden in the Section VI Class B1 baseball semifinals this afternoon at Vets Park.
Eden scored two quick runs in the top of the first but Medina answered right back with four tallies in the home half of the frame on singles by Brett Riemer, Kyle Herman, Matt Riemer and Brennan Zinkievich and an error. Zinkievich’s hit plated two runs.
However, the Mustangs managed just one more run and no more hits the rest of the way.
Eden grabbed a 5-4 lead by scoring three times in the fourth inning aided by a pair of errors.
Medina did retie the contest at 5-5 by scoring a run without the benefit of a hit in the home half of the fourth.
The Mustangs later got two runners aboard in the seventh on an error and a walk but couldn’t capitalize.
Medina finishes the season at 17-5.
