Eden rallies late to down Roy-Hart for Section VI Class B2 softball championship

No. 2 seed Eden rallied for five runs in the seventh inning to edge past No. 1 Roy-Hart 9-6 in the Section VI Class B2 softball championship game Thursday evening at Williamsville North.

Roy-Hart jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning ignited by a leadoff triple by Maddie Fry and highlighted by a two-run double by Mallory Steiner.

The Lady Rams maintained a 6-4 lead after an RBI single by Maddy Glena in the sixth inning but then saw Eden put together a decisive last ditch rally in the seventh to claim the title.

Fry and Glena both had 3 hits on the evening for Roy-Hart as Lexie Lovewell, Steiner and Jayden Townsend each added 2.

N-O Steeplechase
Newfane’s Sam Auernhamer and Akron’s Margo Henley both scored victories in the Niagara-Orleans League Steeplechase competition Thursday at Starpoint.

The Medina duo of Jack Hill and Daniel Heil finished second and third in the boys’ competition.

Newfane’s Nina Burkart was second and Barker’s Serena Harris third in the girls’ competition.
