East Aurora girls oust Albion in B1 sectionals

A late rally fell short as No. 4 seed Albion dropped a narrow 2-1 decision to visiting No. 5 East Aurora this evening in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class B1 girls soccer playoffs.

Trailing 2-0, Albion got right back into the game when Brylie Hapeman scored her 12th goal of the season on a breakaway with 11 minutes remaining in the second half.

The Purple Eagles kept the pressure on but could not net the equalizer over the final hectic 10 minutes.

East Aurora scored a goal in each half.

Albion, which had an 8 game winning streak snapped, finishes the season at 10-6-1.

Newfane 7, Springville
Niagara-Orleans League champion No. 3 Newfane got goals from 6 different players in romping to a 7-1 victory over visiting No. 6 Springville in another Class B1 contest.

Megan Knoll and Makena Carpenter each scored 2 goals for the Lady Panthers as Emily Foltz, Meghan Mietlicki and Adelyn Burns each netted 1.

Tonawanda 3, Medina 2
No. 8 seed Medina dropped a narrow 3-2 decision at top seeded Tonawanda in a Class B2 quarterfinal.

Destiny Satkowski and Kylie Bielak scored the goals for the Mustangs.

In another B2 quarterfinal between N-O foes, Wilson defeated Akron 3-2 in overtime on a goal by Kayla Neumann.

Field Hockey
Roy-Hart 3, Buffalo Seminary 0
Ashley Hill, Rielly Albee and Jayden Townsend each scored a goal for Roy-Hart in the non league win over Buffalo Seminary.
