Driving conditions remain difficult with many vehicles off the road

SHELBY – The driver of this truck was stranded for nearly 15 hours in the vehicle on Salt Works Road in Shelby before being transported to safety today.
Orleans County Sheriff’s deputies have been busy throughout the day trying to assist stranded drivers and passengers, Sheriff Chris Bourke said.
Deputy John Doyle took this photo on Mill Road in Ridgeway of a crew trying to remove a tree across the road.
A travel ban remains in effect. Bourke said several vehicles are currently off the road along Route 31A in Barre and Clarendon.
“It’s one stranded vehicle after the next,” Bourke said.
