Dragons top Mustangs in non league contest

Beginning a busy regular season ending stretch of three games in four days, Medina dropped a 55-41 decision to visiting Pembroke in a non league game this evening.
The Mustangs will now close out the Niagara-Orleans League schedule by visiting Barker at 6 p.m. Tuesday and hosting Wilson at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Jayden Bridge scored a game high 20 points as Nolan Peterson added 17. Josh VonKramer 10 and Caleb Felski for Pembroke which is now 8-8.
Christian Moss scored 18, Cole Callard 10, Jerrell Nealy 8, Preston Woodworth 3 and Jayzon Wills 2 for Medina which slips to 7-11.
Moving on top to stay, Pembroke grabbed a 20-10 lead at the end of the first period. Bridge had four baskets and Peterson two threes and a three-point play to lead the Dragons during that stretch.
Pembroke held a 14 point, 29-15 lead at the half after a low scoring second quarter.
The Dragons maintained a 14 point, 45-31, advantage at the three-quarter mark as Bridge had three baskets and Peterson and VonKramer both hit threes during that stretch.
Christian Moss scored 9 for Medina in the third period but the Mustangs could get no closer than 12.
Pembroke maintained leads of from 12 to 17 points in the final stanza as Peterson and VonKramer both hit threes. Callard tallied six for the Mustangs in the period.
