Press Release, NYS Department of Transportation

BROCKPORT – The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the Park Avenue/Fayette Street bridge over the Erie Canal in the village of Brockport, Monroe County, will temporarily close next Tuesday for approximately four months to rehabilitate the structure.

Construction will include the replacement of the flooring system to strengthen the bridge in anticipation of increased traffic volumes during the replacement of the nearby Route 19 (Main Street) lift bridge, which will require a long-term closure beginning in 2022.

During this winter closure there will not be a detour posted, though motorists may use the nearby Main Street lift bridge to cross over the canal. All construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on conditions.
