There was a small earthquake near Medina and Lyndonville at about 1 p.m. today, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

The earthquake measured 2.6 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers somewhere between a mile and 15 miles north of Medina.

A map from the U.S. Geological Survey puts the earthquake out in Lake Ontario, not far from the shore in Yates. (Click here to see a map and the report from the U.S. Geological Survey.)
