Diamond season begins for local hurler

The temperature may be in the 20’s and snow is on the ground here in Western New York but for Lyndonville diamond enthusiast Ed Urbanik the baseball season is now underway.
Urbanik was on the mound this past weekend for the Orange County California based Team Victory in the Men’s Senior Baseball League Desert Classic in Southern California.
Urbanik pitched in the tournament opener leading Team Victory to an 11-1 victory over Dodgertown West. He pitched 6 innings scattering 6 hits with 9 strikeouts and no walks.
Team Victory went 3-0 in the round robin portion of the tourney.
No. 2 seeded Team Victory then nipped Aqua Dulce 4-3 in the semifinals but dropped a wild 11-9 decision to top seeded Team USA in the finals.
