Dewart to play field hockey at Nazareth

Barker Central School is pleased to announce that Lydia Dewart will continue her field hockey career at Nazareth College this fall and major in Occupational Therapy.

As a senior Dewart was selected All-State, first team All Western New York, and first team Niagara-Orleans All-League for field hockey. She also helped guide her team to the Class C Sectional championship.

Throughout her field hockey career, she played on two Niagara Orleans League champion teams, three Class C Section VI champion teams, and one Far West Regional champion team.

Dewart also played basketball where she earned Honorable Mention Niagara-Orleans honors and she is a school record holder in the 800M run for track & field.

She was the recipient of multiple scholar athlete awards including recently earning All WNY Scholar Athlete honors for the sport of track & field.

Nazareth College coach, Tarah Christenson said of Dewart, “We’re so very excited to welcome Lydia to Nazareth this August and I’m thrilled to continue coaching her through the collegiate years, where the Barker coaching staff has left off. She’s fantastic and her family, school and the Barker Field Hockey program has much to be proud of, with Lydia as a student-athlete.”
