Dental Health Month celebrated at Medina elementary school
Press Release, Medina Central School
MEDINA – February is National Children’s Dental Health Month. To raise awareness about the importance of oral health and preventing tooth decay, Oak Orchard Elementary invited in a special guest.
Dr. John Stockton, from the Medina Dental Group, talked to third-graders about their teeth and good dental hygiene practices. Dr. Stockton talked about how to keep their mouths healthy and what foods are good for their teeth. He gives healthy foods like fruits and vegetables the green light and sugary foods get a red light. He also discussed protecting their teeth from sports injuries by using a mouth guard.
The students certainly found his message entertaining when he did a demonstration on a monkey puppet on the proper way to brush their teeth. The classes enjoyed the goody bags he brought them with a toothbrush and supplies to help keep their teeth in tiptop shape. They especially liked the rubber gloves he gave them that he uses in his practice. It brought a big smile to their faces!
A big thank you to Dr. Stockton for helping the students develop good habits and getting a head start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
