Decker claims Shelridge club title

Brett Decker captured the Shelridge Club championship Sunday edging out Ray Neuman on the first playoff hole.

Decker led the championship after both the first and second rounds. He opened with a round of 76 on Friday and then fired a one under par 71 on Saturday to take a 4 shot lead over Tommy Hungerford and a 5 shot lead over Neuman heading into the final round.

The lead was cut to 3 shots after the front nine today as Decker shot a 41, Neuman a 39 and Hungerford a 40.

Neuman finally rallied into the lead after a birdie on No. 15 as Decker bogeyed both No. 14 and No. 15. However, Decker pulled back even with a birdie on No. 16.

Decker and Neuman both made par on both No. 17 and No. 18 setting the stage for a playoff starting on hole No. 1. Decker made par on the hole to claim the title.

Decker and Neuman finished the 54 holes of regulation play with identical totals of 227 while Hungerford finished with a 230.

Rounding out the top five finishers were James Tee with a 235 and Mike Paul a 240.
