Cuomo wins vote among Orleans Democrats

Gov. Andrew Cuomo received about 60 percent of the vote among Orleans County Democrats who went to the polls today. He had 490 votes to 333 for Cynthia Nixon, the actress who has become an activist. He is the projected winner statewide, multiple media organizations are reporting.

In Orleans County, only about 16 percent of the 5,219 registered Democrats went to the polls today. There are also 131 absentee ballots that went out, with 76 returned so far, according to the Board of Elections in Orleans County. The ballots will be counted on Tuesday, and they will be accepted until Thursday as long as they are postmarked by Sept. 12.

Members of the Reform Party also have three candidates running for attorney general. Nancy Sliwa received 18 votes in Orleans, followed by Mike Diederich with 8 and Christopher Garvey with 7.
