Cuomo says State Police will have fireworks enforcement detail
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced today that the State Police will have a fireworks enforcement detail with a focus on keeping illegal fireworks from coming into the state.
The governor said most of the fireworks are coming from Pennsylvania. Communities throughout the state have been subjected to residents setting off fireworks at night. That includes villages in Orleans County.
“I want to remind New Yorkers that fireworks are illegal and that fireworks are dangerous,” Cuomo said during a news conference today.
He said some nights sound “like the Wild West” with fireworks being set off.
“They bother people and they are dangerous,” Cuomo said about the fireworks going off in residential neighborhoods.
