CSAT upends Albion, Roy-Hart ousts Eden

One big early error aided scoring inning keyed No. 6 CSAT to a 10-4 win over host No. 3 Albion this afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the Section VI Class B1 baseball playoffs.

CSAT moved on top to stay in the matchup of two former Niagra-Orleans League foes by erupting for 6 runs in the decisive second inning on a combination of 3 errors, 3 hits and a walk.

The Eagles, which began competing in the Niagara Frontier League this year, later put a firm lock on the victory by scoring 3 times in the top of the seventh.

Albion scored once in the second on hits by Thomas Furmanski and Vincent Zona and three times in the bottom of the seventh on a sacrifice  by Liam Ward, a triple by Bryce Pritchard and an error. A single by JacQuess Harrison and a double by Austin Dugan set up the opportunity.

Roy-Hart 7, Eden 1

Breaking away from a 1-1 deadlock, No. 4 Roy-Hart scored 6 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to earn a 7-1 victory over visiting No. 5 Eden in the Class B2 quarterfinals.

Jake Bruning and Jake Stern both banged out two-run singles to highlight that uprising which also included RBI single by Al Xapsos and Brendan Hess. A single by Charlie Bruning and 2 walks loaded the bases to set up the threat.

Xapsos had a total of 3 hits and Jake Bruning 2.

Charlie Bruning pitched the first five and one-third innings allowing 2 hits and striking out 8. Jake Bruning pitched the final inning and two-thirds giving up no hits and striking out 2.
