CSAT scoring bursts best Lady Rams; Kendall tops Alexander to improve to 7-0
Two long scoring runs keyed CSAT to a 43-36 win over host Roy-Hart in a non league girls basketball game this evening.
CSAT jumped out to a 14-4 lead at the outset including 6 by Amiyan Rollerson.
However, Roy-Hart answered back with a big 17-0 run, which first pulled the Lady Rams to within one at the half (14-13) and then into a 21-14 lead midway through the third quarter.
Ava Owens scored 15 to spearhead that big rally. She tallied 9 in the second quarter on two rebound baskets, a three and a jumper and then tallied the first 6 of the second half on three more jumpers.
CSAT though countered with what proved to be a decisive 23-6 run to regain the lead for good by 10 at 37-27 with less than three minutes to go. Back-to-back threes by Monika Allen and Rollerson, which highlighted the rally, put the Lady Eagles back on top to stay at 30-25.
Roy-Hart did rally back to within four, 37-33, with 1:10 to go after back-to-back threes by Owens, but could get no closer.
Owens finished with a game high 22 as Kaitlin Mettler added 6, Juliana Buscarino 4 and Claire Halstead and Alexis Cacciatore 2 each for the Lady Rams.
Allen had 13, Rollerson 9 and Maryya Williams 8 to pace CSAT.
Kendall 41, Alexander 32
Staying unbeaten at 7-0, Kendall downed host Alexander 41-32 in a Genesee Region League game.
Alezya Brown had 13 points and 7 rebounds, Libby Snyder 8 points, 10 rebounds and 5 steals and Julia Szczepanski 4 points, 6 rebounds and 3 blocks to lead the way for Kendall which held a 25-9 advantage at the half. Brown had four key free throws down the stretch.
Attica 44, Holley 19
Chase Harding scored 10 to lead Attica to a 44-19 G-R win over Holley.
Sam Bates and Harleigh Andrews each scored 6 and Tia Hofforth had 11 rebounds for Holley.
Boys Basketball
City Honors 51, Albion 44
Trailing 25-19 at the half, City Honors used a 15-6 third quarter scoring edge to key a 51-44 win over visiting Albion in a non league contest.
Jahmeek Riley scored 15, Tyler Gibson 13 and Caleb Fox 11 for Albion.
