Couple killed in Barre accident was from Holley

Photo by Tom Rivers: Two people – Barbara Lewis and her husband Elbin – were killed in an accident on Wednesday morning at the intersection of Route 31A and Eagle Harbor Road in Barre. A tractor trailer struck a car driven by Mr. Lewis, who had stopped at the intersection but pulled out onto 31A, and was hit by the truck, according to the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office.

The couple killed in an car accident Wednesday in Barre is from Holley.

Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes has published the obituaries for Barbara J Lewis, 72, and her husband Elbin Lewis, 79. The couple was married for 51 years, and have four sons, 11 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Mrs. Lewis loved going to American Bandstand in Buffalo, where she met her husband. She worked as a housekeeper for many years at Arnold Gregory Hospital. She also enjoyed knitting and ceramics and loved spending time with her family and friends, according to her obituary from Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes.

Mr. Lewis served in the US Army and then worked for Eastman Kodak for over 25 years.
