County Legislature, Albion BOE both observe moment of silence for Jared Fearby

ALBION – The Orleans County Legislature and Albion Board of Education both observed a moment of silence for Jared Fearby during their meetings on Monday.

The 2016 Albion graduate drowned on Friday when he went fly fishing on Johnson Creek near Alps Road in Yates.

Jared was a senior at SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry School in Syracuse, studying conservation biology. He played on the varsity baseball and golf teams at Albion, and was active with the concert band as a trumpet player. He also played the piano and enjoyed classical music.

His mother, Lynn Fearby, is part of the management team for the Orleans County government as coordinator of administrative services for the County Mental Health Department.

The family will receive friends at Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, 21 West Ave., Albion on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. His funeral service will be 11 a.m. on Thursday at Albion First Presbyterian Church, 29 E. State St. Memorials may be made to PAWS, 3371 Gaines Basin Road, Albion NY 14411.
