NYSCOPBA members from Collins, Gowanda, Lakeview, Wende, Orleans, Attica, Wyoming and Albion Correctional Facilities held a charity softball game at the Nike Base in Hamburg on Sept. 14 and raised over $10,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western New York.

Well over 200 members attended, participated and helped raise a total of $10,715. In addition to the games, raffles and auctions were held during the day to raise funds.

“I would like to thank all the participants, volunteers, and sponsors that helped make this tournament a success,” said Joe Miano, NYSCOPBA Western Region Vice President. “It is a great feeling when a group of people join together to raise money for such an important cause. It is nice when the community can see our members outside the prison walls giving back to those less fortunate. They recognize the important role organizations like Make-A-Wish play in helping sick children realize their dreams.”
