Jalin Cooper, who will be a senior at Medina High this fall, gave a verbal commitment this afternoon to accept a football scholarship from Toledo University.

The scholarship does not become finalized until Cooper signs on national signing day on February 7, 2018.

“Starting the recruiting process I didn’t really know what I was looking for. I found out quickly what I was NOT interested in,” said Cooper on announcing his decision on Twitter. “Logos, Colors, Reputations. Those things didn’t really matter to me. It’s not the logo that mattered, it was the pride and passion that mattered for people from that school. I was also looking for a school where I can grow the most not only as a student or athlete but as a person, as a man. So after that being said I’m 100 % committed to The University of Toledo.”

Toledo is a member of the Mid American Conference whose lineup also includes the University at Buffalo which also recruited Cooper.

Cooper scored 16 touchdowns and had over 1,200 all purpose yards last fall as he helped lead the Mustangs to the division title.  His career totals to date include 24 touchdowns and 2,010 all purpose yards.

He has also been a three year starter for the Mustangs varsity basketball team and in track he is a two-time Section VI champion in both the 100 and 200.
