Colts, JV Eagles stay unbeaten

Stallions, Varsity Eagles improve to 2-1

Both the Medina Colts and Albion JV Eagles posted shut-out wins on the road Saturday to improve to 3-0 in Niagara Orleans Football Association action.

The Colts blanked host Newfane 19-0 as Iverson Poole scored three touchdowns on runs of 58, 44 and 16 yards. On defense, Poole had a fumble recovery and a sack. Hayden Woodroe added an extra point for the Colts.

The Albion JV Eagles shut-out Roy-Hart 28-0 at Middleport as Brillance Johnson had 55 yards rushing and two touchdowns, Dyonce Farley 35 yards and a touchdown and Thomas Furmanski a 7 yard TD pass to Kevin Hillman. Furmanski also completed passes for extra points to Gregory Thompson and Anthony Freeman. Defensively, Farley had 8 tackles and a sack, Hillman and Deshawn Grace 4 tackles and Thompson, Brice Kelly and Damien Lattimer 3 tackles.

In the Varsity Division, the Medina Stallions outlasted Newfane 35-29 and the Albion Varsity Eagles topped Roy-Hart 38-12 improving both teams to 2-1.

Izaiah Rhim completed 8 of 16 passes for 216 yards, including two touchdown passes to Vincent Montegue, to lead the Stallions attack. Montague had a total of five receptions for 120 yards including a fourth quarter 58 yard TD catch for what proved to be the game winner. The Stallions also had Ronnie Koonce rush for 133 yards and a touchdown and Damon Bloom 66 yards and two touchdowns.

The Albion Varsity Eagles attack was highlighted by touchdown passes of 68 yards from Nate Moore to Antonio Vallejo and of 44 and 26 yards from Vallejo to Mark Greene. Vallejo also had 103 yards rushing including an 85 yard touchdown, Moore a 36 yard TD run and Greene a 25 yard scoring run. Vincent Zona and Tyray White added extra points. On defense, Moore made 12 tackles, Greene 11, Vallego 9 and Isaiah Callicutt 5.

Completing a sweep, the Albion Mini Eagles defeated Roy-Hart 26-6 as Michael White had 101 yards with a touchdown, Jacob Hughson 71 with a TD, Amair Jones 48 with a TD and Jahmeek Riley 43 and a TD. Defensively, Amari Jones had 8 tackles, Jevon Jones 6, Riley 5 and Jacobi Johnson 4.

In the JV Division, the Medina Broncos dropped a 20-0 decision to Newfane. Brian Fry had 81 yards rushing for the Broncos as Bobby Geiger added 14 and Zach Blount completed three passes to Tyler Chinn for 65 yards. On defense, Colby Petrie had 3 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery, Parker Wilson 5 tackles, Nathan Neace 3 tackles and Chinn 2 tackles and a fumble recovery.
