HOLLEY – U.S. Congressman Chris Collins, R-Clarence, stopped by the American Legion post in Holley on Friday to discuss a federal proposal called the REVAMP Act.

Congressman Collins

The Reforms to Encourage VA Meaningful Progress Act of 2017 was introduced last year. The pilot program would give veterans’ organizations access to federal funds to maintain veterans’ posts.

The Jewell Buckman Post 529, located next to the Post Office on Route 31, needs a new roof, and faces a myriad of other repairs, including floor tiling and concrete steps, and several other issues.

Post leaders, including Commander John Pera, met with Collins on Friday afternoon to discuss the challenges with the building.

If authorized, REVAMP would provide competitive grants up to $75,000 for VFW and American Legion whose primary purpose is to honor, promote and advocate for veterans.
