Roy-Hart/Barker/Lyndonville coach Joe Suhr has been named the week one Buffalo Region Coach of the Week by the Buffalo Bills and ADPRO Sports after he led the Silverbacks to a 22-20 win over Alden in the opening game of the season.

Suhr is in his third year as the coach of the Silverbacks, helping grow the program from an 8-person football team back to 11 on 11 football. One of Suhr’s main objectives as a coach is simply to provide an opportunity for kids in his community to play football. In addition to his duties as varsity football coach, Coach Suhr teaches History in the Lyndonville CSD, and coaches varsity wrestling.

Throughout the year Suhr hosts several fundraisers to help athletes raise money for camps and volunteers as the Director of a youth wrestling club in Lyndonville. A community organization that Coach Suhr is heavily involved in is Madison Nation, a charity that raises money for families that have a child battling pediatric cancer.

To grow the game of football in his community, Suhr helps run an elementary school flag football program and has worked with local youth football programs in the past as a coach as well.

Suhr has taken a number of steps to grow his Varsity program throughout the year and develop his players including instituting USA Football tackling protocols, hosting team building dinners each week, building a weightlifting program, and participating in 7on7 off-season football.
