Taking charge with a big second quarter uprising, Cleveland Hill went on to defeat host Roy-Hart 60-38 this evening in a non league boys basketball game.

Trailing 14-12 at the outset of the second period, a switch to a zone defense keyed Cleve Hill to a 14-0 scoring surge to take the lead for good. Ramah Lassiter scored 8 points to spearhead that decisive run.

Chase Johnson and J’Son James both chipped in with a pair of baskets in the period which finished with the Eagles holding a 14 point, 32-18, advantage at the half after the quarter’s 20-6 surge.

Cleve Hill maintained a 14 point, 42-28, lead at the three-quarter mark.

Lassister and Daytwon Burney both finished with 16 points and Johnson 13 for the Eagles.

Andy Xapsos scored a game high 18 points and Chris Anderson 10 for Roy-Hart.

Xapsos scored 8 in the opening period to keep Roy-Hart even at 12-12 and then tallied on a lay-up at the start of the second quarter to give the Rams what proved to be their last lead at 14-12.

Now at 0-2, Roy-Hart next faces Lyndonville on Friday in the opening round of the Rams Tournament.

Roy-Hart’s Justin Hechke, right, goes for a rebound against Ramah Lassiter of Cleve Hill.
